Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its own results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive routine technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps and time spent on pages
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed during the visit
- The referring site, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics vendors may combine that activity into traffic reports. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may alter how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search query to the selected partner
- Maintaining site speed and availability
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Douglas County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It publishes general directions to records held by DCSO, Douglas County Corrections, the courts, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search-box services. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information entered into their tools. Those practices are outside our control, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court portals, sheriff pages, Nebraska agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own policy controls the visit. Read those terms before supplying personal details.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and choose targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be received by:
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- Analytics vendors measuring performance and traffic
- Search partners processing a query
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can promise complete security, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If data from a minor comes to our attention, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. The Nebraska Public Records Statutes, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, govern access to public bodies rather than creating a private-site consumer-data code. Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3523 separately limits public dissemination of qualifying criminal-history information. Requests concerning data held by this site may include:
- Requesting access to personal data we hold
- Asking that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seeking deletion where applicable law permits it
- Opting out of processing where that choice is available
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with an updated effective date.
